Lenovo Vibe K5 Note to feature 4GB RAM, launch on August 1

Lenovo Vibe K5 Note will launch in India on August 1 and the smartphone will come with 4GB RAM, according to the latest tweets from the company. Lenovo Vibe K5 Note was first launched in China, and is launching in India, nearly seven months after the earlier K4 Note was introduced.  Lenovo confirmed the 4GB RAM specification on its Twitter feed, asking users what they plan to do with all this RAM on the smartphone.

In terms of specifications, the new Lenovo Vibe K5 Note has a 5.5-inch Full HD display with 401 ppi, and is powered by a MediaTek Helio P10 processor. With Lenovo now talking about 4GB RAM, we’ll have to see if it will stick with 16GB internal storage or launch a 32GB storage version. The smartphone supports expandable storage with 256GB limit via microSD.

Lenovo Vibe K5 Note has a 13MP primary camera with dual-LED flash, and an 9MP secondary camera. It is powered by a 3500 mAh non-removable battery, and has a fingerprint scanner on the back.

Lenovo K4 Note was launched in India in January, and was the successor to the Lenovo K3 Note, but was not as big a success as the latter smartphone. Lenovo K3 Note’s price of Rs 9,999, full HD display and camera made it one of the best budget smartphones when it was launched in India.  But with the K4 Note, Lenovo didn’t have it so easy, especially as the competition had increased. Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 3, Le 1s, followed by Le 2 offered a lot more storage and RAM at lower pricing than the K4 Note.

Lenovo’s K4 Note came with support for ANT VR headset and the smartphone was initially sold via flash sale on Amazon. We’ll have to see if Vibe K5 Note will also come with the same, and whether Lenovo plans to bundle the ANT VR headset with this new phone as well.
